Context & objectives

An elderly care services company wanted to improve its data usage strategy for sales and marketing teams while providing insights to users of their Software-as-a-Service platform. This required overhauling their data strategy to generate more effective reports from multiple data systems.

They needed a data platform to act as a "sales cockpit," helping sales and marketing teams track lead conversion. They also requested guidance on Azure Cloud best practices and coaching for their data team in development and data engineering principles.

Approach

First, we needed to understand the data structure and its source. We did this using Azure Cloud, Microsoft's cloud platform that enhances scalability, flexibility, productivity, and cost-efficiency in IT operations.

Next, our data scientists built an automated and user-friendly Power BI dashboard using Python and Azure Cloud tools as part of the data platform. This involved planning ETL processes, i.e. extracting data from multiple sources, transforming it into a standard format, and loading it into the final destination.

Finally, we shared our expertise with the client's data engineering team for building modern data pipelines. Through guidance, documentation, and ongoing support, we empowered their team to manage development work independently.

Results

With this improved data platform, our client gained a deeper comprehension of the data structure and flows. We identified several approaches for data extraction and developed a roadmap for implementing the best option. We also delivered a Sales cockpit prototype that met all business requirements.

The client's team is now equipped to build and maintain their data pipeline and cockpit independently.
